January 27, 2020: EITC Information Session

The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is one of the best tools for helping low-wage and unemployed workers find and keep living wage jobs, a flexible cash benefit claimed through filing your taxes. Improving access to this benefit could increase economic mobility at scale, but those who need this support most are often missing out. One fifth of eligible low-income workers miss out on this opportunity.

In the 2020 tax season, Code for America is piloting technology and processes to help make free, trustworthy, accessible tax preparation more accessible, helping eligible families across the country access the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Join us for a workshop about the Earned Income Tax Credit on Monday January 27 (2020-01-28T00:00:00Z2020-01-28T01:30:00Z), and hear from Code for America’s EITC team to find out more about the EITC pilot and how you and your Brigade can help people in your community access this program.

You can read more about the EITC pilot in this blog post: The Power of Cash — Code for America

@veronicayoung is there a specific time scheduled yet for the session?

FYI, you can copy and edit this code inline within a sentence in Discourse posts to show a time in a way that will offer it in a couple different timezone’s and default it to the viewer’s where possible:

[date=2020-01-16 time=22:30:00 timezone="GMT" timezones="GMT|America/New_York|America/Los_Angeles" format="dddd, MMMM D \a\t LT z"]

(You can see the above example in action in this post)

Or use the button for it :stuck_out_tongue: :
