Thank you everyone who was on the call last night! We had some great discussions and ideas going. Unfortunately there was a snafu with the Zoom recording feature so we don’t have a video. Below is a link to the live notes Google Doc as well as the chat log from the session.

Both the notes from last night’s call and the form submissions will be presented to the Brigade Congress Content Committee as a starting point for them to gauge what the network is interested in. If you haven’t submitted your ideas/concerns/wants/etc. yet, you have until tonight!

Content Committee members will be chosen by a NAC sub-committee.

  • Submit your ideas and express your interest in being on the Content Committee in this Google Form! (Closing at 11:59pm PST on Tuesday, July 16)

  • Notes from the 7/15 Brainstorming Sessions in this Google Doc

    17:05:11 From Carlos Gonzalez-Rivera : Yup
17:07:52 From Isaiah L : What jumps out to me is “Onboarding” ‘as we are a movement’… So people start with focus and some base of awareness of the network.
17:08:20 From Scott Stockwell to All panelists : some applied learning. conduct the breakout session series like you might do orientation and follow-up to provide a best practices model. and the surviving documentation.

17:13:00 From Isaiah L : To the Brigade.*
17:13:26 From MB to All panelists : so interested in the onboarding
17:13:33 From MB to All panelists : in a brigade

17:15:53 From Michael Ubell : I grew up in Hackensack!
17:17:37 From Isaiah L : Aaye! North Jersey!
17:19:13 From Scott Stockwell to All panelists : making contacts in government. There is the basic skill of calling the government official and making an ask.
17:20:35 From Scott Stockwell to All panelists : That is not a skill that comes natural. So this would be a good area. Not a Congressman. But a local prosecutor, or a city council member. or a judge.
17:21:24 From Zay : And community.*
17:22:08 From Scott Stockwell to All panelists : and this gets to the core of Code for America, if we work with government, we need to be able to establish and maintain a rapport.

17:25:47 From Scott Stockwell to All panelists : Great session Nina!
17:26:21 From Zay : Appreciate you all for showing up!
