Gathering attendee data

How do you track improvements in the diversity at weekly hack nights? Meetup seems kind of clunky for that.

laddr has a feature where during any event in the linked Meetup.com feed members can “check in” to an event and optionally select what project they’re working on right from the top of the homepage:

We’ve mined and analyzed this data in ad-hoc ways at various times but have never developed any consistent practice or metrics

There are a few features in laddr that can help make it intrinsically valuable for members to check in when they’re at events, but standing in front of the pizza and announcing “please check in so we can justify this pizza to our sponsors” always seemed to work best. We’ve been pretty lax about it since we stopped getting pizza regularly for hack nights though
